Neflhpl Inc. emerged amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2020, under the leadership of Founder and President, Anna Barbary. Witnessing empty grocery store shelves and the uncertainty of restocking during those trying times was an ordeal that many Americans had never faced before.
For Anna, this experience highlighted the vital importance of self-sufficiency. She credits her love and respect for agriculture to her late maternal grandmother, an avid gardener, and both her maternal and paternal great grandfathers who were successful farmers in the states of Florida and Georgia in the 1800s and 1900s. Anna recognized that she couldn’t have been the only woman in her community seeking to rekindle the practical skills of our ancestors.
Anna took the initiative and established an online Facebook group that has flourished, uniting over 800 women across Northeast Florida who share her mission. By organizing various events featuring local homesteading and prepping experts and enthusiasts, Anna quickly realized that a crucial need needed to be met in Northeast Florida.
In the Spring of 2023, Anna embarked on a journey to transform Neflhpl Inc. into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, driven by the desire to provide education, mentorship, and a sense of community. Anna enjoys canning and food preservation, hydroponic gardening, hunting, and volunteering in her community as a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Green Cove Springs.
